Where Young Athletes Learn the Game, Build Confidence, and Fall in Love with Volleyball

Minnows Program

Minnows Volleyball Program

GRADES: 4TH - 6TH

The Minnows Program is where young athletes get their first real “bite” of competitive volleyball, without needing prior experience. It’s designed for 4th–6th graders who may be brand new to the sport or who have only played in recreational leagues, and are ready to learn the game with better structure, coaching, and skill development.

Who it’s for

Minnows is a great fit for athletes who:

  • Have never played volleyball before, or

  • Have played rec league and want to learn the more competitive side of the sport

  • Want to build skills and confidence in a supportive environment

What the season looks like

  • Practices: 1 practice per week

  • Length: 1.5 hours

  • Enrollment: Opens early October and stays open until teams are full

  • Practice Dates: Typically first Monday in December through the last Monday in February

    • Weather closures can push the end of the program into March

What athletes will learn

  • Minnows focuses on the fundamentals and the “how the game works” pieces that help players grow fast:

  • Passing

  • Setting

  • Hitting

  • Rotations

  • Basic footwork

  • Competitive volleyball details (spacing, positioning, communication, and game flow)

The goal of Minnows

  • The ultimate goal is simple: give your athlete a strong foundation so they feel confident and prepared for July tryouts for the next competitive season.

  • It’s also a great option for athletes who just want to learn and improve in a structured setting, without the pressure of “making a team” right away, while still being challenged and coached like an athlete who’s building toward competitive play.

Cost

  • 2026 Season Cost: $200
